Bio/Credits for Monique Gabrielle
|
| Bio
Monique was born in Kansas City, Missouri, then raised in
Denver, Colorado from the age of about 3 years to 18 years of age.
Monique began her acting career as an angel in her church
Christmas play at the age of five. She began modeling during high
school and entered her first beauty pageant at the age of 17 and
won the title of Miss American Legion. During her teens and
twenties Monique competed in and won several pageants, modeling
competitions and nightclub contests.
Upon graduation from high school in 1980, Monique moved to
California. Two months after arriving in California, a modeling
agency sent her to Japan to model. This was Monique's first time
on an airplane - and it was a very long flight! After returning to
the U.S., Monique landed bit parts in "Airplane II", "Flashdance",
"Night Shift" and finally "Bachelor Party" in which she portrayed
Tracey, a role that would elevate her to cult status as the
'fantasy girl'. This led Monique from one fantasy girl role to the
next. She soon started getting bigger parts, but in smaller
movies. During this time Monique also did some bathing suit,
lingerie and nude modeling. She posed for Penthouse magazine on a
few occasions and was their centerfold for the December 1982
issue.
Working on a lot of B-movies made Monique a B-movie queen, but
Monique wasn't happy. Most of the scripts weren't very good,
budgets were almost invisible and the directors and producers of
these films had little respect for the actors that worked for
them. Those elements, coupled with Monique's growing health
problems, were reason enough for Monique to walk away from that
side of the business. An anxiety complex hindered Monique's
ability to audition for A list movies, so she started her own
business called Purrfect Productions - a name she chose because of
her extreme love of cats. Monique now lives in South Florida
because of the warmer winter climate. And she has three cats.
